Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative - Community Seminar
During the months of April and May, many of our students will be participating in a Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative assembly presented by the Michigan Attorney General's Office.  On April 28, 2014, a community seminar for parents and members of the community will be held beginning at 6:30PM at the Howard Pepper Auditorium located at Grand Blanc High School.  The Community Seminar presentation provides practical tools including Internet Safety Tips and how to: 1) access the Michigan Sex Offender Registry; 2) understand the impact of digital footprints; 3) appreciate the risk of sharing photos with embedded location information; 4) recognize the potential dangers and legal ramification of sexting; and 5) identify cyberbullying warning signs and develop a plan of action if needed.  For an event flyer please click HERE.

Grand Blanc Schools will be accepting 105 Schools of Choice applications (within Genesee County), for grades K-6th and 105c Schools of Choice applications (Contiguous Counties to Genesee County), for grades K-6th, beginning June 16, 2014.  Click HERE for additional details.

8TH GRADE INFORMATION
Attention 8th Grade Parents: 

8th Grade Recognition night will be held on Thursday, June 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium.

The Cedar Point trip will be on Monday, June 16th.  Students should listen to announcements regarding ticket sales and when they will begin.

International Day of Astronomy event - 4/5/14

Breakfast available every day!
 Attention all students: We encourage all of you to eat a nutritious breakfast, which will prepare you for your school day. Research shows that students who eat breakfast improve academic achievement, score better on tests, have fewer health issues, and behave better in class.

ALL students are eligible to participate in our breakfast program - it doesn't matter if you walk, take a bus or come by car - everyone can eat breakfast at school. If you receive a free or reduced price lunch, you may receive a free or reduced price breakfast as well.There is no additional paperwork required.

Breakfast is a bargain at $1.50. Reduced price breakfast is $ 0.30. Free priced students receive a free breakfast. EAT BREAKFAST TODAY!!
ATHLETIC ENTRANCE CLOSED
The Athletic Entrance is closed until further notice.  Students who arrive prior to 7:55 a.m. should enter through the main entrance and be directed to the waiting area.  Students who wait for rides after school should wait by the main entrance.  The Athletic Entrance doors will remain locked before and after school.  This does apply to all athletic events as well as evening activities.  The main entrance will remain unlocked for entry into the building for all activities.

2013-14 Yearbooks on sale now
STUDENTS AND PARENTS INTERESTED IN YEARBOOKS: The yearbook's web address is www.jostens.com. Cost is $35. The purchaser has to input the school name. Books will be delivered to students' homerooms in the spring. Orders by check (made payable to Grand Blanc East Middle School) or cash can also be made to Mr. Sokoloski in the Counseling Office and Mrs. Gundlach in room 223.
EDP Development

Attention Parents of Eighth Grade Students…Your child will soon begin to build his/her Educational Development Plan (EDP).  This is a document in which students will begin to think about and plan for their future beyond high school.  Parents are an important part in this process.  As a way to introduce you to the EDP Mr. Sokoloski and Mrs. LaFleur will be holding a voluntary parent meeting on December 3, 2013.  The meeting will begin at 6:30pm in computer lab 101at East Middle School.  If you are interested in attending this meeting, please RSVP to the counseling office (810-591-3583).  The meeting will take approximately forty-five minutes to an hour and will be held in the computer lab so that parents can log on directly to their child’s EDP and follow along with the presentation.
